Reading Rocket Fuel - The PQRST Primer
Elevate comprehension and retention before diving into a book, article, or University 365 Book Essential in just 3 minutes.

How to Do It (Steps)

Use that simple but very efficient trick to boot you reading and comprehension of any text, book, article, lecture.

  1. Preview (30 seconds to 2 minutes): Quickly scan headings or bold text.

  2. Question (30 seconds to 2 minutes): Take your time to formulate 1–2 questions you want answered. Write them by hand on paper or in a notebook (digital or paper). It’s important to write manually and not use a keyboard. Don't worry about the quality or aesthetics of your writing; this note will be discarded at the end of the day.

  3. Read (1 minute to 5 minutes ): Focus on key paragraphs.

  4. Summarize (30 seconds to 5 minutes): Mentally restate the main idea along with all supporting details and components, and write them down in a notebook or on paper in a mind map format. It is important to write by hand!

  5. Test (30 seconds to 5 minutes): Ask yourself if you can recall the core messages. Use the UCopilot if needed to help you verify and test.
